Disability Dance Classes
Disability Dance is for people with neurodivergence. In this class, we explore different styles of dance and music.
This is for the ages 12-25.
My Usual Class Structure
1. Warm up
This is usually a game or copy along cardio based activity to get the blood flowing, increasing the heart rate, then making the body ready for dancing.
2. Strength and Stretch
Strength and Stretch isn’t only important in dance, but in everyday life no matter what age you are. I work on the muscles in the core, arms, legs, etc. I will adapt these exercises based on the individual needs.
3. Skills
These skills tend to be based on the dance style of that week. Some examples of these could be based on: musicality, trickier movements or isolating different body parts.
4. Dance
I will then put these skills into a dance. The dances I do last for around 2 weeks, then I change style. This strengthening the memory and pickup rate and also reduces the chance of repetition too often.
